The UNCLUB Concept:
As many of you will know we’ve been putting on occasional interesting shows under the Unlabel banner at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells for over 10 years now –
always great, sometimes busy and other times less so.
Well, now we (Chris, Jason and John at the Forum / Unlabel / Form/Function Records) want to do this kind
of thing more often – once a month in fact – and we’re setting up a new venture called UNCLUB and we’d really like YOU to be part of it...
We’re booking some great underground artists from around the world – the kind of folks you wouldn’t normally expect to see outside of big cities – but to do this
we need some commitment from the folks who would like to come along to these shows. What we propose to do is that everyone that comes along (including ourselves
and the other folks that staff these shows) becomes part of the UNCLUB collective and pays an annual subscription of GBP£50 each.
For this you get entry to twelve monthly UNCLUB shows, each with three great acts (36 acts in all), as well as a selection of releases and samplers from the labels
whose acts book as well as our own labels and we also hope to film each performance to create a DVD featuring a track from each act to be given to subscribers at
the end of the first 12 months. You will also get a membership card, which will allow cheaper entry to other Unlabel related shows throughout the year, free badges
and some other great stuff – and all for just fifty quid!
(The UNCLUB shows will be £6 each to non-members so you immediately save over £20 and get free stuff too).
The first few shows are already booked in (see the next column).
We want to keep booking these shows right through 2010 and we need to work together as a collective to make this happen. We want you to support what we are trying to do
here. We are all paying for this but we all need to work at encouraging people to take the gamble and come and see great music. We are hoping to get approximately
75-100 members and we have already got around 40 confirmed already just through word of mouth. If each person brings just two people to a show then the whole thing is sold
out!
Better still, if we were to all bring 2 people to each of the 12 shows, the money raised by those non-UNCLUB members will cover the costs of the shows you have come to see
and should mean that by the end of the twelve months your initial £50 will be there untouched. You will have the choice in year two (providing we have covered these costs)
to either reinvest your £50 and we utilise it with the small profit that was made in the first year to raise the standard of acts OR you are free to walk away!
Essentially we just want to get unique interesting artists and bands down to Kent that the rest of the time would be too much of a gamble to take on.
We understand that £50 isn’t just something you throw at things every day but we believe you get a heck of a lot for your money and it’s for a good cause, great music!

The next UNCLUB Shows:

Sunday 8th August 2010:
WINDSOR FOR THE DERBY
Windsor for the Derby are an American post-rock band based in Austin, Texas, whose members are originally from Tampa, Florida.
Their debut album was released in 1996 on Trance Syndicate, and was produced by Adam Wiltzie (Stars of the Lid), who then joined the group after the release of the album.
In 1999 they released a full length record, Difference and Repetition on Michael Gira's Young God Records, including a 7-inch single on Western Vinyl. A collection of B-sides
entitled Earnest Powers followed in 2002, after some lineup changes. Band members McNeely and Matz then moved to Philadelphia, eventually signing to Secretly Canadian, where
they have released their last several albums.
Their 2004 song 'The Melody of a Fallen Tree' appeared in Sofia Coppola's 2006 movie Marie Antoinette.
